Ring Attire: A top that reaches just past her shoulders and covers her entire midsection, extended shorts that reach down past the calf muscles and wrestling boots that go up to just past her ankles. The colors of her clothing always match i.e.-purple top, purple shorts and purple boots, and are usually purple, though color can vary.
Ring Entrance: "Whatever Gets You Through Today" by Radio (the non-Grey's Anatomy version) fires up starting from the :20 point and plays through the introduction. "Someone said today...". Laura throws the backstage curtains apart as she walks through them wearing a navy blue track suit with gold trim. She takes a few steps then goes into a small crouch.
She explodes upwards, head leaned back, arms straight out to her sides as pyro blasts of red, then white, then blue, then all three mixed together go off behind her before while she nods her head in time with each blast. Laura begins making her way to the ring on a slow walk, finally making it at...think about the lives we had together. She puts her hands on her hips and lets out a deep breath before diving under the bottom rope and heading for the opposite and to the left turnbuckle.
She hoists herself on to the middle rope and holds her arms in an "L" shape before hopping down and going diagonally across the ring to the next set of ropes and continuing the process on the other ropes, hoisting herself up to each different one at the ensuing "Whatever gets you through today..." lines.
Upon getting down from the last set, which would be her corner for the match, she removes the tracksuit top, rips off the pants and throws them to the outside. She follows this by tying her hair into a small ponytail and pulls a thin headband out of her shorts and puts it around her head before stalking around the ring, awaiting her opponent.
Biography: Laura Seton grew up in the city of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Her childhood was a normal one, but one also forced into perfection from not only her friends but parents as well. It's not that her parents WANTED her to be perfect at everything, they didn't consistently say to her things like, Laura, you HAVE to be perfect or else, and they didn't scar her memory with any sort of traumatic abuse if she WASN'T perfect. It's just that Laura forced her self into perfection. She quickly became determined to, if she was going to do an after-school activity or something as simple as homework, do it perfectly or not bother. It's this determination that has not only led Laura to DU, but has made her into an elite citizen.
With numerous trophies and certificates dating back to when she was five, Laura has won more events/meets/contests in her life already than most of us ever hope to in our WHOLE life. Still, even with all that striving for perfection Laura was still able to have a social life (read: guys). After all, with her looks, it's not she'd have to really try to get men to notice her...that happened no problemo. Of course as fate had it, it was a past boyfriend that began Laura's conquest of this sport that we love. As a sophomore in high school she became the girlfriend of the one person who would become instrumental to her beginning in wrestling. Not because he helped get her a contract or something like that, but rather because of her spite towards him--we'll get to that in a bit; but first, the athlete that IS Laura.
It was in high school where Laura realized that, while she was smarter than nearly anyone else. Her strength was athletics. She had garnered hype during her junior-high years of her basketball prowess and was viewed as having tremendous potential. The scouting on her was correct as she became one of the most dominant players in her time. Playing point guard, she started all four years for the varsity team and gathered numerous awards. Her school's all-time leading scorer. First-team All-State her sophomore, junior and senior years. State player of the year her junior and senior years. Wisconsin's Ms. Basketball her senior year. Led her school to the state tournament her sophomore, junior and senior years, winning it the last two. Her huge success got her a scholarship to Kansas State University. Again, she started every game all four seasons she played after taking an injury redshirt her 'true' freshman season. Laura played a key role in K-State's success during her time there's one of the "Big 4" of the team; she seemed to be the "glue" that held the team together. While not nearly as successful as she had been in high school, she still earned 2nd team All-Conference honors her junior and senior seasons and set the school record for career assists.
And lest we forget about her track success. High school All-American her junior and senior years. State champion her junior and seniors in the 100M. and 200M. dashes. In the Sydney 2000 Olympics she would win the gold medals in those same events...then repeat that same success eight years later in Beijing, winning a gold medal in the 4x400M. relay as well.
So with all that success; why wrestling? That's because of her past and the aforementioned ex-boyfriend. You see, it was a traumatic and heart-shattering (for Laura anyways) break up the two had during their senior year of high school, one that had left poor Laura in tears on her bed and is still something she doesn't like to talk about. Well, during Laura's freshman year of college, April of 2000, she was watching TV and saw an ad for a wrestling promotion that was coming to nearby Kansas City and lo-and-behold, who was on the card? Her ex!
She decided to make the road-trip to KC from Kansas State and interfered in her ex's match, costing him the title he held. For the next couple weeks she followed around causing mass chaos in her ex's matches until he eventually got sick of it all and retired! You see, it's not that Laura is a "bad" person because she really isn't. She is extremely sweet and has been described on numerous occasions as having the proverbial 'heart of gold'. Unfortunately though, Laura has a problem expressing whatever rage and anger she may happen to acquire.
Her in-ring career began in May of 2000 and within one month she had her first title and she never looked back. In January, 2004 Laura debuted in DU; using only 'Laura' as her in-ring name. She had a fantastic first year, earning the Askai championship one month into her DU career and become involved in one of the more intriguing feuds of the year against Icenique. With all that juggling of school, major-college basketball and wrestling, it was just a matter of time before Laura burned out. After a rather impressive start to 2005, things derailed. For the first time since her freshman year at college when she had her injury redshirt, Laura looked athletically vulnerable. Sadly, things would get worse for her. During late-2005, DU held a World Tour and in late November, the company held a house show in Wales. It was at this event where Laura blew out the ACL in her right knee, sidelining her for six months. When she returned in late-May, the adrenaline was flowing again and Laura seemed to be back to her old self.
Yet she wasn't. After defeating Joanie Storm at Forsaken Destiny III, Laura was scheduled to face Aphrodite on the following Exile on August 20, 2006. Before the match, Laura was attacked and Aphrodite took the easy pinfall. For whatever reason, that evening seemed to be the 'final straw' and Laura called it a career. She quietly retired and went to her secondary career want; reporting, becoming the editor of a local newspaper. Yet, as DU came out of a break of it's own, Laura, now going by her full name of Laura Seton, showed up from seemingly nowhere on the first Exile back, going after Katia. The want to wrestle is back in her blood, can her competitiveness and want FINALLY drive the former Askai champion to the top of DU?
Personality: Laura doesn't exactly have the world's greatest social skills. Quick to make enemies, Laura cares more about herself than others, even though she doesn't seem to realize it. She enjoys talking herself up, bragging and boasting about herself, just so that she feels she can save face in a conversation, whether it's necessary or not. Even if she does make a friend or two, she has a habit of lying. Now, whether her lying deals with her inborn arrogance or her forgetfulness, the point is that she can rarely be trusted or relied on.
